Climbing Ngaruahoe 2006 
Fragments from a half-day trip from Ohakune to Tongariro Crossing track and up to Ngaruahoe crater. The morning of 30th December 2005 was not really summer like: low clouds, cold, patchy rains... so we (Alex and George) kept our expectation to fulfil our planned Ngaruahoe climb pretty low. However, fearfully watching the clouds, we made one little step after another up the slope and suddenly found ourselves at the sulphur breathing crater. Needless to say the Tongariro Crossing track was unusually unpopulated this day :-) |
